Story[]
Event Start[]
Joys of the Sea!
The event is starting!
Learn about the sea and join Emilio, Hopewell Bay’s new marine biologist, in the Joys of the Sea event!
Intro Dialogue[]
Ursula: Maddie, dearie! Just in time!
Maddie: Oh?
Ursula: May I introduce you to Dr. Emilio Costa, Hopewell Bay’s new marine biologist! He runs the aquarium! And, as I just recently found out, is Amy’s owner!
Emilio: Please, it’s just Emilio. Only my mother insists on calling me a doctor!
Maddie: A pleasure to meet you, just Emilio! How is little Amy?
Emilio: She’s fine! Thank you again for finding her! And thank you, Mrs. Boulton, for letting me host my exhibition here!
Maddie: Exhibition?!
Ursula: Oh yes, I totally forgot, dearie! Emilio here is going to show us all the joys of the sea!
Item Dialogue[]
After clearing cowwebs/opening boxes and uncovering “Deluxe Aquarium Level 8”
Emilio: My first aquarium is the very reason I became a marine biologist!
After creating the first “Pupfish Level 1”
Emilio: Pupfish are incredible survivors! They’ve even learned to adapt to desert conditions where they live in springs or pools that exceed temperatures of 90 degrees F!
Maddie: It’s so teeny tiny!
After creating the first “Catfish Level 3”
Emilio: Catfish are amazing hunters that can detect electric fields! But did you know they make amazing parents as well? Some species of male catfish take on the responsibility of fanning the eggs to keep them oxygenated and free of germs!
Maddie: Aaaa, how nice. I never knew my parents…
Emilio: Oh… I’m sorry to hear that Maddie!
Maddie: It’s alright, I have a Grandma Catfish to take care of me instead!
After creating the first “Puffer Fish Level 4”
Emilio: The unique defence strategies of puffer fish emphasize the importance of being careful with aquatic life!
Ursula: While their first line of defence is to inflate into a large and more difficult form to swallow, often with spikes… They are also incredibly toxic! Lethal to almost all predators, including humans!
Emilio: Th- That’s right! You know your fish Mrs. Boulton!
Ursula: Just the interesting ones, dearie.
After creating the first “Sunfish Level 6”
*** missing dialogue ***
After creating the first “Swordfish Level 7”
Emilio: Swordfish are incredibly fast and considered one of the fastest fish in the sea! Some can go up to 60 miles per hour!
Roddy: Do you think two swordfish have… Sword fights?!
Maddie: Oh Roddy…
Ursula: …
Roddy: What?! It’s a legitimate question!
After creating the first “Dolphin Level 8”
Emilio: Dolphins are one of the most intelligent animals on the Earth! They have large brains and show complex social behaviour. They also have a remarkable sense called echolocation that helps them navigate and hunt!
Ursula: Sometimes I wish my sister would have echolocation. She gets lost in her own backyard, sometimes!
Deb: What’s that sis?
Ursula: Nothing dearie!
After getting “Orca Level 10” for the first time
Emilio: Orcas are not only smart, but they’re at the top of the food chain, making them apex predators! They live in tight-knit family groups called pods, led by their matriarch, and show highly intricate and sophisticated social structures. Orcas are some of my favourite animals in the world!
Maddie: And mine are horses! And dogs. AND CATS! and…
Emilio: Ha ha! I see you like lots of animals!
After creating the first “Humpback Whale Level 11”
Emilio: And here we are! The majestic Humpback whales are some of the largest animals in the world!
Maddie: They’re huge!
Emilio: That they are! And excellent singers! Their songs are some of the most beautiful I’ve ever hard…
Ursula: Wait until you hear Maddie sing! That’ll change your mind!
Maddie: Grandma!
After merging “Pontoon Expansion Level 3” to create first “Grandma’s Boathouse Level 4”
Emilio: This is a nice-looking boathouse, Mrs. Boulton!
Ursula: Thank you, dearie! We originally had it for “other” reasons, but now it’ll be used to explore our wonderful seas!
Emilio: “Other” reasons?
After merging “Striped Minnow Level 4” lure to create the first “Big Fish Minnow Level 5”
Emilio: when picking your lures, make sure they are designed for catch and release! They can be removed quickly and encourage shallow hooking.
After merging “Motorboat Level 9” to create the first “Fishing Boat Level 10”
Deb: No need, sweetie. I’ll just count on you to save me!
Emilio: Er….
After activating first “Level 8 Casting Rod” to create the first “Working Fishing Rod”
Emilio: Catch and release is a great conservation method! But remember, it’s not enough to just throw them back in the water. Take appropriate action before, during and after landing a fish!
After getting first “Trunk Key”
Emilio: Now that’s what I call a lucky catch! I thought I had lost this during the storm. Now I can open my trunk!
After creating an “Unlocked Trunk”
Emilio: There we go! Good thing I found my key! Now I can gear up and go deeper into the waters of Hopewell Bay!
After merging “Fish Transportation Box Level 4” to create the first “Fish Spawning Kit Level 5”
Emilio: Good containers to transport fish for research is paramount. If you take them out of their habitat for a long time, ensure that you continuously oxygenate the water!
After getting “Full Fishing Outfit Level 8” for the first time
Emilio: While it may not be the most fashionable, fishing gear extremely functional!
After creating the first “Kelp Forest Level 4”
Emilio: Seaweed is an excellent habitat for fish and other aquatic life. Not to mention the fact that it’s incredibly healthy too!
After creating the first “Coral Atoll Level 6”
Emilio: Coral reefs are often referred to as the "Rainforests of the Sea"! About a quarter of all sea life live in coral reefs, and some are so large they can be seen from space!
Decoration Dialogue[]
After unlocking “Quaint Lily Pond” Level 5 decoration
Maddie: I’ve always wanted to put a water feature here!
Emilio: It’s quite beautiful, Maddie. Although I don’t think it’ll be suitable for fish…
Maddie: Don’t worry, I got a great idea for them!
Roddy: Hey Maddie! How’s… Uuh… What’s going on?
Maddie: Perfect timing, Roddy! Let me introduce you to Emilio!
Emilio: Hello! Welcome to the joys of the sea! My name is Emilio Costa, marine biologist! Have you come to learn about all the wonderful things found at the sea?
Maddie: He’s a doctor, you know!
Roddy: Oh… Uuh, I’m Roddy Took. Architect.
Emilio: An honor to meet you Roddy! Please! Let me show you around!
After unlocking “Dock Lights” Level 10 decoration
Emilio: …
Maddie: Emilio? You look worried.
Emilio: Sorry, it’s nothing… I’ve just been finding strange things in the sea lately.
Maddie: Oh? Like what?
Emilio: I found a bottle that had a cryptic note inside and an old suitcase!
Ursula: How odd! Hopewell Bay is renowned for its pristine waters!
Emilio: Exactly! One of the very reason I decided to come here and study it!
Ursula: Hmmmm…
After unlocking “Emilio’s Boat” Level 15 decoration
Emilio: That’s- That’s my boat!
Maddie: Oh, it is?! I’m sorry, I saw out by the dock and thought I’d use it to spruce up your exhibition!
Emilio: It’s alright, I’ll just come here on my bicycle instead…
Maddie: Phew! It is pretty, though, isn’t it?
Emilio: I may have to keep the flowers when I take it back!
Maddie: Deal!
After unlocking “Info Station” Level 20 decoration
Roddy: Maybe we cam use a bobby pin to open it up?
Emilio: I don’t have any of those, but I have a few old fishing lures?
Maddie: Look at you two, thick as thieves!
Emilio: Maddie! Ha, funny you should say that. We were just wondering how to get into this old suitcase I found…
Roddy: I offered to help, since I used to pick locks as a kid…. As a hobby!
Maddie: Oh really? Hmm, I should remember that…
After unlocking “Fishing Equipment” Level 25 decoration
Ursula: I’m sorry dearie. I thought it was junk, so I threw it in the trash!
Emilio: *sigh* I guess it was junk, Mrs. Boulton. We sort of got carried away with the mystery of it all…
Maddie: Did Grandma throw away your suitcase?
Emilio: Yes… I guess we’ll never know if it contained a map to a treasure of untold riches, Roddy…
Roddy: I guess so, bud…
After unlocking “Pond Bridge” Level 30 decoration
Deb: So what made you decide to become a marine biologist, handsome?
Emilio: Uhm… You can call me Emilio. Please…
Maddie: Hi Emilio!
Emilio: MADDIE! Hi! I was just ugh, showing- ugh, telling your aunt… ugh, what’s her name?!
Deb: Deb. But you can call me… Anytime.
Maddie: Interesting woman, isn’t she?
After unlocking “Large Outdoor Salt Water Aquarium” Level 35 decoration
Emilio: This is pretty incredible, Maddie! How did you find such a large aquarium?!
Maddie: Oh… I know a guy who knows a guy!
Emilio: How did you get all the fish?
Maddie: I know a cat too.
After unlocking “Buster the Fish” Level 40 decoration
Maddie: Hi Roddy!
Roddie: Hey, Maddie! I thought I’d bring old Buster along to help with the exhibition.
Maddie: Buster? Who’s he?
Roddie: My singing fish! I got it as a gift a long time ago. He’s seen better days, sure, but I’m sure you can appreciate his uniqueness!
After unlocking “Captain Ignatius Boulton” Level 45 decoration
Maddie: I don’t care what people say… Yellow works on everybody!
Ursula: Looks like we should start calling him captain now.
Maddie: Ha ha ha! Captain Boulton…
Ursula: Wouldn’t be the first time, dearie!
After unlocking “Joys of the Sea Entrance” Level 50 decoration
Maddie: Did you catch that swordfish?
Emilio: Me? Oh no. It isn't even real! Matter of fact, never caught a fish in my life!
Maddie: Really?!
Emilio: Well... Not with a rod anyway... I like to use my bare hands. He sings too, you know!
Event Close[]
Maddie: Thank you for showing us how much there still is to learn about the sea, Emilio!
Emilio: And I am happy there were so many people eager to learn! However… It seem like I also have a lot to learn about Hopewell Bay! This place is a little…
Roddy: Strange?
Ursula: Mysterious?!
Maddie: Wonderful?!!
Emilio: Ha ha! Yes. Exactly!
