The Scissors are used to split an item into 2 of the previous level items in the merge chain. They start with 3 charges, and merging two scissors will combine the number of splits left.
These are a reward item from the 2022 Spring Holiday, Terrace Triumphs, 2022 Winter Holiday, and 2023 New Year's events.
Instructions[]
Scissors are used by dragging them on top of an item you wish to split. Unlike most aspects of the game, scissors ask for confirmation before splitting the indicated item. The charge is likewise only used after the confirmation. If you don't want to split the item after all, you can cancel the action without losing the charge.
You must have at least one free slot on your board to be able to use scissors, so that there is room for both resulting items. It's not possible to push one of the resulting items to the queue. The free slot is required even when the scissors only have one charge left.
Scissors are destroyed after the last charge is used.
Gameplay Tips[]
- You can stack 19 pairs of Scissors in one inventory slot.
- As of the mid October 2022 update the information below no longer applies. You can't use scissors on piggy banks or chests unfortunately. You can however use them to help you maximize your inventory space. Keep on merging your items to the highest levels and use the scissors when you need a lower level item.
This will be especially useful for planted flowers and also for the soap type cleaning items which seem to never want to drop when you need them. Now you can save a couple bottles of Turpentine then use the scissors when you need powder detergent or softener.
Former Possible Usage[]
- Level 1/2 Piggy Banks: Partially used two Level 1
Piggy Bank (I) (14 drops each). Merged them into a Level 2
Piggy Bank (II), and then split using
Scissors. The two Level 1 Piggy Banks were both fully charged.
- Level 2/3 Piggy Banks: Merged two unused Level 2
Piggy Bank (II) into a Level 3
Piggy Bank (III). Partially used the Level 3 (56 drops only), and then split using
Scissors. Re-merged into a Level 3, which was fully charged. Note: Piggy Bank logic has changed in a recent update and these numbers might be out of date.
- Level 1/2 Blue Chests: Merge one almost empty Level 1
Fancy Blue Chest (I) (11 taps) with one UNOPENED level 1 chest. Tap the level 2
Fancy Blue Chest (II) 27 times which will leave the chest with one drop left. Use the scissor to split it into two level 1 again which can then be merged to a new full level 2. You can do this as many times as you have scissors.
- Level 1/2
Brown Chest (I) works the same, but be sure to only tap 9 times on the one level 1 and leave the other unopened and then 21 times on the Level 2 before splitting as it has less total drops than a blue chest.
- This technique is repeatable and it is advised to use it on chests as that will give you a better total gem value (in the form of generator parts) than a piggy bank. If you use it on a piggy bank make sure to only use it on a level 3 as that will give you more drops than a level 2.
Story[]
When the scissors are placed on the board for the first time:
- Maddie (surprised)
Ooh what's this?!? Scissors!- Maddie (default)
Rumor has it that this will give its owner good fortune.- [Maddie leaves]
- instruction sequence
You can drag these scissors onto any item to split it into the two previous level items in the merge chain.
Two Scissors can be merged into one to stack their charges.- [Ursula arrives]
- Ursula (joyous)
Sometimes you just need to tear things down to build them back up again.
Event Scissors[]
Event Scissors are used the same way as regular Scissors but are only obtained as an Event Reward, and can only be used on the Event Board.
